Taming Tricky Feelings Workshop:
A fun and practical workshop for all children 5-7 years

I think it’s fair to say we can all struggle with big tricky feelings sometimes.  Feelings are a big part of life and the sooner we learn tools to help us manage them in helpful ways the better off we are.

Kids are not born knowing what feelings are or how to manage them. They also don’t know how to verbalise what they are feeling at times. That is why they often act out and are unsure of what to do when they experience feelings, especially the tricky ones like worry, sadness, frustration and anger.

Kids have to be taught the skills to manage their tricky feelings in helpful ways and then be given opportunities to master doing this.  In the process of learning how to do this they are going to make mistakes at times but mistakes are a big part of the learning process. Let’s be honest, even as adults we continue to learn and make mistakes when managing our own tricky feelings.

Is your child having meltdowns, tantrums or generally finding it hard to manage their big tricky feeling?

Does your child get overwhelmed by their feelings and take them out on everyone around them, including you?

Is your child’s behaviour creating chaos in your home and impacting on their friendships or learning at school?

If you want to give your child the knowledge to develop their emotional intelligence and the practical skills to regulate their feelings then this workshop is a must.

This fun, engaging and skills-based workshop is perfect for any child 5 – 7 years.  All children can benefit from learning more about themselves, their feelings and how to manage them in the best way possible. In this workshop your child will learn the skills needed to live a fully functioning and thriving life now and into the future.  The added bonus is that this may just bring back the calm in your home too.

This workshop is followed by a free parent information session which provides a summary of the workshop content, provides helpful insights and practical strategies for how you can support your child to manage their tricky feelings and behaviours at home.

“I would like to thank Lena. Both my children attended her workshops and they came out with the tools to help them with their tricky feelings.  She gave them an understanding that it’s ok to have different feelings.

Lena also spoke to all of us (the parents), explaining what was taught in the workshops and giving us insight into how to support our children when they are experiencing levels of anxiety or dealing with their tricky feelings.

She understands the challenges of being a parent (she is one herself) and talks with you in a way that feels like that of an old friend.

Talking with Lena brings a level of comfort that is undeniably strong, she makes all those around her feel instantly at ease, so it is no surprise to us that both our children not only enjoyed the workshops with Lena but have been able to put their learnings into practice.”

“Recently my two girls (6 & 10) attended separate workshops with Lena. Both of my girls had a fantastic time and learnt so much about themselves and how to tame their tricky feelings. Best of all they both came home with a ‘tool kit’ which they use to help them self-regulate when their emotions start to get out of control. The follow up parent session was also great so now I can help them use their new strategies and tools when they start to get overwhelmed. Thank you, Lena, for making my girls more self-aware and resilient!”

Taking Control of Anxiety Workshop:
An empowering workshop for all children 8-13 years

Anxiety does not discriminate, nor does it present itself in every person the same way. It can often go undetected or can be confused as naughty behaviour in children. Anxiety can present in one or more of the following ways:

  • Wanting to control others and events
  • Having high or unrealistic expectations
  • Feeling agitated and having anger outbursts
  • Defiance and difficult behaviour
  • Avoiding activities and places (e.g school)
  • Getting upset when having to leave a parent
  • Over thinking and over planning
  • Overly worried before events or prior to doing something new
  • Resistant to change and becoming unsettled when plans change
  • Symptomatic complaints (e.g. belly ache, headache, muscle pain)
  • Difficulty managing emotions
  • Intolerance of uncertainly and constantly asking questions or seeking reassurance
  • Difficulties relaxing or sleeping
  • Struggling to concentrate and pay attention.

Are you exhausted by the constant battles that occur just to get your child to do simple tasks?

Parenting a child who experiences anxiety can leave parents feeling defeated.  When a child becomes overwhelmed by anxious feelings it can impact greatly on their ability to regulate their behaviour and make good choices. It can also become a barrier which prevents them from wanting to participate in daily activities like going to school or after school activities. Parenting an anxious child can feel like being a high level negotiator which can often lead to frustration and exhaustion.

The best way to help them manage their anxious feeling is to educate them about anxiety.

TO TAME THE BEAST, YOU FIRST NEED TO UNDERSTAND IT.

Do you want your child to know they are not alone and learn ways to take control of the anxious feelings that are stopping them from fully thriving in life?

The Taking Control of Anxiety workshop focuses on normalising anxiety and empowering children to use practical skills to manage their anxious feelings in more helpful ways. It puts them back in the driver seat of their lives and brings more harmony back into your home. This empowering workshop is perfect for all children 8-13 years.

This workshop is followed by a free parent information session which provides a summary of the workshop content, provides helpful insights and practical strategies for how you can support your child to be more control of their anxious thoughts, feelings and behaviour at home.

“My daughter attended the Taking Control of Anxiety Workshop with Lena. The understanding and tools Lena has given her to name anxiety and work with her feelings I will be forever grateful for. My daughter bounced out of the workshop talking 100 miles an hour telling me about all the techniques she learnt. I have noticed her confidence is growing day by day as she uses the tips and tricks that Lena has taught her. Her teachers have commented on growing confidence at school and this warms my heart. Thank you, Lena for what you have done for my daughter, you have no idea how much you have changed her life.”

Navigating Life’s Challenges:
An empowering workshop for all teen girls 13-18 years

Raising teenagers isn’t always easy and their behaviour can be challenging. But they aren’t trying to be difficult. They are just trying to navigate through a turbulent time in their life. It is a time when girls are craving more independence though at times they don’t appear ready or willing to accept the responsibility that comes with this. They are greatly influenced by their peers and of course their screens. With little awareness they can easily become the back seat drivers of their own lives.

As a parent you may often find it difficult to know when to shift boundaries and expectations to suit their emerging need for independence. This can often result in a battle of wills that everyone gets pulled into but no one ever wins. In the teenage years the reality is that it is no longer always just you as the parent who has influence over your daughter, it is also her peers. This is why it is so important to ensure that she has the knowledge and skills to build good friendships, have clear boundaries and make good decisions for her life.

Do you want your daughter to be able to navigate safely through the teenage years and create a good future for herself?

The major factors that enable teenagers to navigate their way successfully through these turbulent years are a sense of belonging, confidence and resilience. What is also important is the development of a solid moral compass as it will lead them in the direction that they truly want to go in life and help them make good decisions.  Sometimes the challenges they face can easily steer them off track and start drawing them away from the path they had planned or that you had dreamed for them.

The Navigating Life’s Challenges workshop will help your daughter learn to be the driver of her life and steer her towards a thriving future. In the workshop she will learn and develop skills to enhance her ability to:

  • Develop self-belief and confidence
  • Build positive self-talk and healthy habits
  • Have realistic expectations and strong boundaries
  • Create and maintain heathy friendships/relationships
  • Develop good mental health and wellbeing
  • Become more accountable for her thoughts, feelings and behaviour
  • Align her core values with her behaviour
  • Visualise a clear path towards the future with actionable goals

This empowering workshop is for all girls 13-18 years. Your daughter will leave feeling like she is in the driver’s seat of her life and has the skills to navigate life’s challenges with confidence.

“The analogies Lena used made so much sense and made it easier for me to learn and remember what was taught. I enjoyed being able to interact with Lena and the other girls in the workshop.”

G.M, 13 years

“I learnt that there is no map or destination in life and that your values help keep you on track. I really enjoyed meeting new people too.”
